In July 1997 Cincinnati, my first concert was Foo Fighters at a now defunct club named Caddy’s. The stage was small, the house was packed, and I was stoked to be mere feet from the rock legend I knew from Nirvana. I was a big fan of the Foo debut, and had been playing The Color and the Shape heavily (released in May that year). Many years, and many concerts later (including Foo at Fenway two years prior)—arena antics be damned, this show was still very special to me 21 years later (July 21, 2018).
